Shata Dhauta Ghrita in Sanskrit means 100 times washed ghee {‘Shata’ meaning ‘hundred’, ‘Dhauta’ meaning ‘washed’ & ‘Ghrita’ meaning ‘Ghee’}

The Shata Dhauta Ghrita is also called satadhoutaghritam in southern part of India.  Many pronounce it shatadhauta ghrita and a few call it 100 times washed ghee.

  • First and the foremost ingredient is to get pure indigenous A2 cow ghee.
  • A copper wide plate around 8 to10 inches
  • A round-bottomed bowl for churning
  • Purified water for washing ghee

Preparation: Pour 100 grams of ghee and pour an equal amount of water and start rotating and washing the ghee for one hundred times.

After every 100 rotations, pour away the water and continue the process for 100 times.

It may be tedious, but this process needs to be followed for 100 times.

After washing the ghee for 100 times(100 turns and washing 100 times= 10000 rotations) the ghee turns to be a smooth white cream that can be stored and used.
